The LSR was secured across the apartment door on the floor above with a 6-foot hook.

One of the victim’s arms was trapped by a window gate – this necessitated a firefighter to be lowered with a Halligan to free the victim.

In total – four firefighters were lowered using the LRS during this extreme effort.

Two victims were lowered to safety on the LSR and a third was removed via the interior after the fire was controlled.

The required FDNY members to quickly initiate a life saving rope (LSR) rescue.
